Description
1835 : H.G. 1 : Letter posted from MEYWAR [3 July] Post Office to Mr. Herbert of 9th Bengal Light Cavalry at KURNAUL Postage prepaid 10 as. Meywar was an alternative name for Udaipur, a presidency in Rajpootana. The duties of the force were mainly of a police nature until 1825, when the troops under Lord Combermere advanced against Durjan Sal. The Meywar Field Force was a subsidiary force stationed at Meywar in 1818, after the war with and suppression of the Pindaris.
