EGYPT, 1838, "CARE OF MR. WAGHORN/ALEXANDRIA." (Sidebottom 4b; Smith 4b). Bold and complete two-line handstamp with manuscript "G.W.W." initials at top right belonging to George W. Wheatley (Waghorn's agent in London), on 1838 large part folded cover (missing inner page and side flaps) and addressed to Madras, India, London Oct. 15, 1838 despatch datestamp on back, sender's directive "Care of Mr. Waghorn Alexandria, via Marseille", red "P-D" handstamp, Bombay Jan. 9 (1839) transit backstamp, cover with ink erosion, Very Fine strike, Smith records uses of both Types 4a and 4b between March 1836 and May 1839
