The journey from BOMBAY to LONDON thus look 64 days or approximately two months which was a substantial improvement compared with the route round the Cape of Good Hope The route: To Suez per: Hugh Lindsay ex Bombay 20.10.1839, From Alexandria per: Hermes ex Alexandria 24.02.1839, Volcano ex Malta 01.03.1839, Arrived Marseilles 07.03.1839, Arrived London 09.03.1839. This handstamp: A very neat oval farmed "CARE OFMR. WAGHORN/SUEZ". A very rare cover.
