EGYPT, 1838, "Care of Mr. Waghorn, Suez" (Sidebottom 3; Smith 3). Exceptionally bold oval handstamp with manuscript "1 R" (one rupee) and agent initials on fragment of 1838 folded cover consisting of top flap and large part of front panel, presumably addressed to London, partial red Calcutta Steam Letter Jul. 10, 1838 boxed despatch datestamp, red boxed "INDIA", "Indes Orien par Alexandrie", and "Purifie au Lazaret, Malte" handstamps, Alexandria Sept. 27 transit and London Oct. 17 arrival datestamps, cover affixed to card, Very Fine strike
