INDIA, New Anchorage, 1829, "NEW ANCHORAGE POST OFFICE" Handstamp (Giles 1). Excellent strike of double-oval handstamp with manuscript "15 July 1829" date on flap of folded letter datelined London Aug. 1, 1828, addressed to Calcutta, sender's directive "p Lord Melody", red Calcutta Feb. 17 arrival datestamp (Giles G8) and Ship Letter receipt handstamp, minor edgewear and opening faults (affecting Calcutta datestamp), Very Fine strike of the rare New Anchorage handstamp, only three are recorded
