India, Calcutta, 1819, "KING'S POST/Cos INLd dO/181_" Framed Handstamp (Giles SR7). Excellent and complete strike on arrival over flap with manuscript "1r8a" rate and "16 Aug ( 181) 9" date markings on back of folded letter from England, addressed to Marquis of Hastings as Governor General in Calcutta, Crowned London Packet Mar. 13, 1819 despatch datestamps, manuscript "3/6" rate marking, opening tear which extends slightly into front panel, Very Fine strike
