STRAITS SETTLEMENTS Early Letters and Handstamps Penang 1836 (3 Sept.) entire letter from Singapore to London, rated "1/3", showing framed "india letter/liverpool" and, on reverse, a mainly fine strike of boxed "pinang/post office" d.s. in red for 5th September and arrival d.s. (18.4.37); horizontal filing crease across face panel. Approximately ten examples known of this short-lived marking, used from April 1837 to July 1837.
