Description

Penang 1834 (28 Jan.) entire letter to London, marked "1¼oz", rated "2/10" and showing, on reverse, a readable example of circular intaglio "prince of wales island/post office" in red with manuscript date inserted, framed "india letter/gravesend" in red partly overstruck by arrival datestamp (14.7); the handstamp crossed by heavy vertical filing crease which has partly split.
