India, Sirowie, 1831, "SIROWIE/Pt Pd/18__" Oval Handstamp (Giles 1). Clear strike with manuscript "14 September (18) 31" date added on back folded letter to Calcutta, red "PM" handstamp, Calcutta (Oct. 4) arrival backstamp, accompanied by printed transcription of letter, cover soiled with heavy ink erosion which slightly affects postal marking, Fine though an incredibly rare strike
