Sirhind (recorded under the same name) is a historic city in Fatehgarh Sahib district, Punjab, India, once a great Mughal provincial capital on the Delhi–Lahore road and a place of deep significance in Sikh history. Set between the Sutlej and the Ghaggar, it was a major route town of the plains. Its pre-1854 postal markings document the Company's mail along the trunk road through the eastern Punjab.
