CAMPAIGN MAIL — First Afghan War, 1839-42. 1842 (29 May) entire letter (portion of address panel missing) ex the "Capt. W. Riddell" correspondence (No. 66) to his wife at Indore, headed "General Pollock's Camp at Jellalabad" and showing boxed "LOODIANA/Bearing" (HG 3) and "L.P.O." (HG 9) (military handover point of Civil P.O. handstamp) both in sepia. An interesting letter written shortly after the relief of Jellalabad by General Nott.
