Kartarpur (the Kurtarpore of early records) is a town in Jalandhar district, Punjab, India, founded by the fifth Sikh Guru Arjan and important in Sikh history for the Kartarpuri manuscript of the Guru Granth Sahib. It lay on the Grand Trunk route through the Doaba. Following the annexation of the Punjab it became a post town, and its early markings record the Company's mail of the Jalandhar Doab.
