Jhang (historically Jhung) is a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan near the confluence of the Chenab and Jhelum rivers, celebrated in the folk romance of Heer Ranjha. An old town of the Sandal Bar, it became a district headquarters under British rule. Established as a post town after the annexation of the Punjab, its early markings belong to the first British mail of the central Punjab rivers.
