Description
Mount (St. Thomas's Mount): 1833 (13 June) soldier's entire letter (some splitting around edges) from a Sergt. in the 3rd Battn. Artillery to London, countersigned by the C.O. and showing on front a fine strike of the framed "MOUNT/FREE" (HG 3) and a good strike of the large circular "INDIA SOLDIERS/LONDON/3" and, on reverse, a fine strike of the very scarce "MADRAS/SOLDIERS LETTER/FREE" c.d.s. in red (HG SD10) and faint boxed "INDIA LETTER/COWES" in red. A rare and interesting exhibition item.
