Description

1836, Oct. 27. London - India. Long closely written ELS addressed to a Captain Cowper Rochlow/27th Reg. Madras Native Infantry, India. Re-directed on arrival to Bangalore. Endorsed 'post paid out of England' top left. Upon arrival in India, cover was charged 4 as ship postage (paid to the master of the ship) plus 7 as inland postage, totalling 11 as. Black Madras Ship Letter dated 21 April 1837 on reverse.
