Description

GREAT BRITAIN, "INDIA LETTER/ARUNDEL" (Robertson In.1). Framed strike on back of folded letter from Cannanore and addressed to Sheffield, England, sender's directive "Per Florentina" and "Cannanore, 23 March 1825" despatch date, "CANNANORE/POST PAID" in oval despatch handstamp (Giles 3) under India Letter marking, manuscript "1/-" rate crossed out and "1/3" re-written, Fine strike of this rare marking, only five examples are recorded, all of those that we are aware of were on the same East Indiaman ship as they bear the same London marking
