Bangalore: 1800 (19 Jan.) entire letter (some splitting at edges and light staining) from Ayr, Scotland showing a good strike of the extremely rare oval-framed "POST PAID./BANGALORU" in purple (HG1, one example recorded), "AYR" despatch h.s. and light oval "Ship Letter/Crown/LONDON". One of the great rarities of the pre-stamp era.
