Egypt: 1837 entire letter from London to Calcutta, endorsed ''6/GWW'' by Waghorn's agent Geo. W. Wheatley at top right, bearing two superb strikes of the rare two line ''CARE OF Mr. WAGHORN/ALEXANDRIA'', few tape stains, otherwise fine. The letter was written by Sir Gore Ouseley, Privy Councillor to William IV and Queen Victoria. Interesting postscript stating ''The late good Queen died at Windsor on the 20th. inst. and I attended the Privy Council at Kensington Palace the same day to appoint, and swear in Her Majesty Queen Victoria''.
