Hong Kong. The Non-Treaty Ports Macao Waghorn Overland Mail 1839 (18 Aug.) entire letter from Bibby Adams & Co to Huth in London "per H.M.S. Algerine to Suez", "Via Marseilles" and boxed "Care of Mr Waghorn" (type 3). There is a good strike of double oval "Forwarded by Edmond Bibby & Co/Bombay.5th Decr", a readable strike of the boxed "to the care of/mr waghorn", some faint transit marks including "india" in oval, French P.O. Alexandria, disinfected in Malta, handstruck rate mark "british10d./foreign1/10½" and London arrival (27.2). A rare and desirable cover. Three Waghorn covers have been recorded from China being from Canton (2) and this cover from Macao
