Punderpore
Pandharpur (the Punderpore of early records) is a temple town in Solapur district, Maharashtra, on the Chandrabhaga (Bhima) river, the great pilgrimage centre of the god Vithoba that draws vast Varkari crowds. It lay on the Deccan pilgrim and trade routes. Administered under the Bombay Presidency, it served as a post town, and its pre-1854 markings record the inland mail of the southern Maharashtra Deccan.
