Description
A two page letter by Captain George Frazer stationed in Nagpur dated 25th June 1839 and addressed to his Brother, James, in Inverness. The letter deals with a legal case which is going on in Delhi. The letter was posted in Nagpur on the 26th June. On the reverse is **“NAGPUR”, 26th June 1839; Paid**, HG 3 in use from 1838-40. The sum Rs1 As.4 for the double rate, in manuscript. On the front is **“BOMBAY”** which was in use from 1838-54. There are no details of the transport of the letter but it arrived on the 10th September 1839. The transit time would appear to be 10 weeks. This would have been the period of the monsoon in western India when shipping was interrupted.
