Description

India, Nagpore, 1846/1855, "NAGPORE" Paid and Bearing Handstamps (Giles 3-4). Two covers, first clear strike of red framed "NAGORE/1855 (Jan) 1/Paid" handstamp on back of petite cover to Jubbulpore, with 1854, ½a Blue, Die II (2D; SG 6), large margins, tied by barred "75" diamond, framed "AM" handstamp, faint red Jubbulpore (Jan. 3) arrival datestamp, minor edgewear, second with complete strike of framed "NAGPORE/Bearing" with manuscript "30-8-46" date and "4 as" rate added on folded mourning edged letter to Kolapore, faint red arrival handstamp, Fine-Very Fine, the Giles 3 is a particularly late use into the Lithograph period
