Acola
Akola (recorded in the pre stamp period as Acola) is a city in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and the headquarters of Akola district. Set on the Morna river, it grew as a cotton-trading and administrative centre on the Deccan trade routes. It carried the inland mail of the Berar country in the era of East India Company posts, and pre-1854 covers struck here trace the overland letter routes of western India.
