Surnbhulpore

Sambalpur (the Surnbhulpore of early records) is a city in western Odisha on the Mahanadi river, a former princely capital and a trade centre of the Odisha uplands long noted for its handloom textiles. It lay on the routes between Bengal and central India. Within the Bengal Presidency it served as a post town, and its pre-1854 markings document the mail of the western Odisha country.
