Seevan
Siwan (the Seevan of early records) is a city in western Bihar near the Ghaghara river and the Uttar Pradesh border, a district town of the old Saran country in the Ganges plain. It lay on the routes toward Gorakhpur and the north-west. Within the Bengal Presidency it served as a post town, and its pre-1854 markings trace the mail of the Saran country.
