Seebsaugor
Sivasagar (the Seebsaugor of early records) is a town in eastern Assam, the historic capital of the Ahom kingdom, set around its great temple-tank and dotted with the monuments of the Ahom dynasty. It became a district and tea town after the British annexation of Assam. Within the Bengal Presidency it served as a post station, and its pre-1854 markings document the early mail of upper Assam.
