India, Patna, 1835, "PATNA/BEARg/18__" Oval Handstamp (Giles 12). Mostly clear and complete strike with manuscript "13 Sept 35" date and "1 Rs 5a" rate added and applied in transit on cover datelined "London, 30th April 1835", addressed to "Assistant Opium Agent" in Patna, forwarded to Simlah, bold strike of "Forwarded by Thos. Haviside & Co., 147 Leadenhall Street" forwarder's handstamp, Calcutta transit backstamp, Calcutta rate handstamp, Very Fine, a scarce Patna marking with few examples thought to exist, particularly interesting with the relation to an Opium agent
