Krishnaghur

Krishnanagar (long written Krishnaghur) is a city in Nadia district, West Bengal, on the Jalangi river, the former seat of the Nadia Raj and a noted centre of learning, clay modelling and Bengali culture. It was a leading town of the delta interior. Within the Bengal Presidency it served as a district post town, and its pre-1854 markings document the mail of the Nadia country.
