Jeagunge
Jiaganj (the Jeagunge of early records), paired with Azimganj across the Bhagirathi in Murshidabad district, West Bengal, was a prosperous river-trade town and a centre of the Jain merchant community in the era of the Murshidabad Nawabs. It stood on the great river route of central Bengal. As a post town of the Bengal Presidency its pre-1854 markings trace the mail of the Murshidabad riverside.
