Elypore
Alipore (the Elypore of early records) is a district of southern Kolkata in West Bengal, developed under the Company as a genteel suburb and administrative quarter south of Calcutta, later the seat of the 24 Parganas courts and jail. It lay just beyond the colonial city. As a post station of the Bengal Presidency its pre-1854 markings trace the mail at the gates of Calcutta.
