Description

1824: H.G.2: Letter from DINAPORE [17 Nov.] to CALCUTTA [23 Nov.]. Inland Postage Prepaid 7 as.DINAPORE was a important military station, with a large cantonment. The 1857 uprising in the PATNA Division started at DINAPORE with 3 sepoy regiments breaking out in open revolt. This handstamp: Oval shape in Black colour shows DINAPORE on top side and Post Paid at bottom side. In blank space between the inner oval, for year, 18 is shown, was used during 1824-1837.
