Description

1815: H.G.5: Letter posted from DACCA [31 Oct.] to Captain Stuart to CALCUTTA [3 Nov.].This handstamp: A black oval "DACCA / POSTPAID" along the circumference. The central blank space is used for writing date. Giles recorded date of use during 1817-21. However, this cover proves that it was in use since 1815. The earliest date recorded so far.
