India, French Settlement, Chandernagore, 1826, "Chandernagore/Post Office/18__" Oval Handstamp (Giles 1). Complete strike with manuscript " (18) 26 10 August" date marking on back of folded letter to Indigo factory in "addah Khoohallgsour" (Kohalpur), minor stain from seal which just touches outer frame of handstamp, Very Fine strike of this French Settlement postal marking, Giles notes this handstamp was only used from 1820-1830 and is rare
