1816: Letter from CALCUTTA |31 Aug. per First Ship to LONDON 16 April April17].This handstamp: A red octagonal "KINGS.SEA / POST"PAID. / CALCUTTA" was in use between 16 Aug. to 18 Dec.1816, and was used as a ship despatch stamp. Other Mark: Even though the postage was prepaid at CALCUTTA a boxed MORE TO PAY, ship letter office mark in black colour was applied at LONDON and a charge of 1.4d was collected by the addressee.
