Description

Calcutta, 1816, "KING'S SEA/POSTE. PAID/CALCUTTA" Handstamp in Red (Giles SD5). Clear strike in red on folded cover with internal docketing indicating Oct. 26, 1816 despatch and addressed to Inverness, Scotland, sender's directive "Ship post paid, Pr Str. Albion" , London transit datestamp, variously rated, Very Fine, a scarce strike of this King's Sea Postage Paid marking, which was in use from April 1816 to December 1818
