Bishenpore

Bishnupur (the Bishenpore of early records) is a town in Bankura district, West Bengal, celebrated as the former capital of the Malla kings and for its terracotta temples and Baluchari silks. A cultural and trade centre of the Rarh country, it lay west of the Damodar. As a post town of the Bengal Presidency its pre-1854 markings document the mail of the Bankura uplands.
