Description

1808: H.G. 2: Letter posted from BHAUGLEPOOR [22 Feb.] to DINAPOOR [25 Feb.]. Postage paid, shown in manuscript "II=", the INDIAN style of writing the amount, i.e.This handstamp: A extremely rare intaglio i.e. white on black, "POST / BHAUGLEPOOR / PAID" in oval, in English and Bhauglepoor and Vasul in Urdu. Giles mentioned its used in 1799, however this is the latest use of this handstamp in 1808. The oval has no outline around it.
