Behar
Bihar Sharif (the Behar of early records) is a city in Nalanda district, Bihar, which gave its name to the whole province and was long a Muslim religious and administrative centre near ancient Nalanda and Rajgir. It was a route town of the south Ganges plain. As a district post town of the Bengal Presidency its pre-1854 markings record the mail of the Bihar country.
