The Sukkur HG 4 handstamp
Sukkur, headquarters of Sukkur District, Sind, situated 27°42' N and 68°51' E, on the right bank of the Indus River, opposite Rohri. New Sukkur owes its existence to the stationing of Eur<;>pean troops here in 1839, but abandoned in 1845, after a fatal epidemic among the garnson.
