The Wuzeerabad HG 1 handstamp
Wuzeerabad, in Gujranwala District, Punjab, on the right bank of the Chenab River, situated 32°26' N and 74°7' E, is 21 miles from Gujranwala town. Ranjit Singh acquired it in 1809, and shortly afterwards, General Avitabile made it his headquarters. It was the headquarters of the o ld WuzeerabadDistrict, broken up in 1851-2, and was the site of a cantonment removed to Sealkote in 1855 on account of the unhealthiness of the place.
