The Jhelum HG 2 handstamp
Jhelum is the headquarters of the same named District in the Punjab, situated 32°56' N and 73°47' E, on the right bank of the Jhelum River, 1367 miles from Calcutta, 1403 from Bombay, and 849 from Karachi. Under Sikh rule it was unimportant, until it was chosen as the site for a cantonment, and under British rule it steadily advanced in prosperity.
