The Attock HG 1 handstamp
Headquarters of Attock District, Punjab, situated 33°53' N and 72°15' E. Fort built by Akbar in 1581, commands the passage to the Indus. It was taken by the British in the 1st Sikh War, lost again in the 2nd Sikh War, and returned to British occupation at the end of that war.
