India, Muttra, 1823, "MUTRA/P Paid" Framed Handstamp (Giles Add. 2). Faint but mostly clear strike with manuscript "1 Jany 1823" despatch docketing on back of long folded letter to Exeter, England, sender's directive "Pr 1st Ship, for London" , two strikes of framed "LIVERPOOL/INDIA LETTER" handstamp (Robertson In. 1), Calcutta (Jan. 13) transit datestamp, manuscript "2/4" rate marking, cover with some edgewear and internal splitting along folds, toned file fold, and minor opening tear to flap affecting Muttra handstamp, Fine and exceptionally rare, we doubt more than a few examples exist
