Muttra is situated 27°30' N and 77°41' E, on the right bank of the Jumna River, in Muttra District, United Provinces, on the road from Agra to Delhi, 886 miles from Calcutta and 914 from Bombay. Through the ages, the town has been plundered, and fell into the hands of the British in 1803, when it was occupied as a cantonment.
