Mount Abu (the Mount Aboo of early records) is a hill town on the highest peak of the Aravalli range in Sirohi district, Rajasthan, famed for the marble Dilwara Jain temples and developed by the British as the summer resort and headquarters of the Rajputana Agency. It rose cool above the desert plains. In the era of the Company's Rajputana posts it served as a mail town, and its pre-1854 markings trace the posts of the Aravalli heights.
