Lucknow: 1847 (28 Mar.) entire letter to Madeira via Calcutta and London showing a fine strike of the very rare and famous "POST/OFFICE/LUCKNOW" brooch handstamp in red (HG 6) with various route and rate markings including manuscript "Ship Letter" (deleted), "paid 10As", "3/8", boxed "BEARING", "Detained for Postage" and "Remitted in Postage" both in red. Full of character and one of the most exceptional Indian prestamp items.
