India, Landour, 1831, "LANDOUR/POST PAID" Tete-Beche Handstamp (Giles 1). Exceptionally bold strike on back of folded letter datelined "May 27th 1831, Landour Hills" , addressed to Edinburgh, Scotland, forwarded to Dalkeith and Lasswade, framed "INDIA LETTER/DOVER" handstamp on back (affected by piece missing from removal of seal), Calcutta (Jun. 17) and various other transit and arrival backstamps including "DALKEITH" straightline, various manuscript rate markings and framed "1/2" handstamp, Very Fine strike, noted as "scarce" by Giles and one of the finest strikes we have encountered, ex Dr. Contractor
