Kishangarh (the Kishengarh of early records) is a city in Ajmer district, Rajasthan, the former capital of a princely state and the home of the celebrated Kishangarh school of miniature painting. It lay on the routes of central Rajputana near Ajmer. In the era of the Company's Rajputana posts it served as a mail town, and its pre-1854 markings record the posts of the Ajmer country.
