India, Kamptee, 1845, "KAMPTEE/18__ May 16/FREE" Oval Datestamp (Giles 5). Clear strike on back of 1845 folded letter to Mallow, Ireland, sender's directive "Via Southampton" and noted "Service", properly countersigned by Lt. Col. of 21st R.N.B. Fusiliers, red "INDIA" oval handstamp, London and Jul. 11 transit and Mallow (Jul. 12) arrival backstamps, manuscript "1/-" rate marking, cover with slight overall soiling and internal tape stain showing thru to front, Fine
