1843 (May 23) Entire letter to Calcutta, endorsed "On Service" and signed, reverse with fine red oval "JANSI / FREE" (Hammond Giles 1, recorded for 1842 only in his 1983 Supplement, manuscript date). A long detailed letter full of news of Indian politics and intrigue, rajahs, villains and campaigns, fine and scarce. Photo on Page 132.
